High winds sent me scurrying from my bed to shut the garage doors last night. This morning, I woke up to this. Throughout the morning, heavy THUMPS told me that it's warming up outside. The snow slides off the roof and crashes down--quite a bit of it for a LATE APRIL FLURRY!
Down with snow!

Taps
This is a milestone, of sorts. Today we finished connecting and testing the hot and cold water AND the drains for the bathroom renovation. All done. Now we really get moving.

Any Old Iron
When Boris visited pre-Covid, back in early February, we carried the old iron bathtub downstairs and threw it out the front door. There it rested until today, when I broke it up with a sledgehammer. It was quick work--about a quarter of an hour. However, I kept this piece, with some lettering on it. I can read "Port Hope" at the top, "MADE IN CANADA," and "8-55" at the bottom. The other two lines are difficult to make out. The third might read "5 FT," which was the actual length, and "F-20." Of the second line, I can almost make the end: "ERION," but that's just a guess.

The Sky's the Limit
I hate doing a job twice, but this IS the second ceiling we've put up in the bathroom, the previous one having gone up . . . about 20 years ago. That's the vent fan on the left, 110cfm I think, and this time it will be wired independently of the light switch, so we won't have to be greeted with a sonic blast every time we enter--not that this fan is loud. We also replaced the fan--twice in fact. The first two were identical units: small and loud. This one is larger and much, much quieter.

Easter Sunday
This is certainly snowy for Easter Sunday. Those are starlings rushing past, which seems appropriate. Joanne has been spreading seed for them, which they certainly need in this weather. She also set out some suet blocks in hanging cages. Somehow, Valla climbed up the snowbank, tore it from the tree, and mangled it until she managed to remove the contents. Greedy old girl!

Easter
This Easter was marked by a gale that dumped more snow on us in 24 hours than any other storm has throughout this winter. Great masses of wet snow came crashing off the roof all night. Perhaps this is the last gasp of winter, the final sweep of Sheila's brush, the last offering of poor man's fertilizer....
